Introducing Yourself Originally: Concrete Business Cards by Murmure
These unusual looking
concrete business cards
were designed by the people of
Murmure
, as a way to introduce themselves and the creative agency they work for. The idea is controversial- after all, business cards today are meant to stand out, but in the same time, fit in any wallet. In this case, we are dealing with a card that is heavier than most and more difficult to store, so the designers also came up with a tiny box for safe keeping: “
Playing with the notion of scales, Murmure created a set of business cards made of concrete. This material, so characteristic of our environment, was enhanced by using the smallest and most refined communication support. The refinement and the technique required for the typography highlight the harshness and the roughness of the used material
.” Would you feel comfortable hanging out concrete business cards? How efficient do you think this design is? Last but not least, check out a selections of business cards, especially created for the world of architecture

Street Art At Its Best In Poland : Escif’s On/Off Switch Mural
Walking around our streets, we can see how those choosing to put their creativity out there decided to express and paint how they see the world around us. During Poland’s
Katowice Street Art Festival
that took place between 20-29 April 2012, a handful of street artists joined forces to recreate the city’s face. One in particular chose to compose a huge
On/Off Switch Mural
on the side of an apartment building. Valencia-based street artist
Escif
captures social attention with his prominent works. His On/Off Switch Mural set on the streets so that passers-by can relate to it in size, colors (or the lack of colors) and the surrounding urban landscape creates an impressive first impression. Good thing we spotted the project on
MyModernMet
– it has the power to make us think beyond the concept and see the formerly heavy industry city being transformed not only by architecture and developments, but also by art.

” –
Kravitz Design Inc.

Book Igloo Held Together By Natural Forces And Knowledge
Colombian artist
Miler Lagos
has been exhibiting since 2002, creating original works like this igloo-resembling installation made of volumes salvaged from the library of a US Navy base. Encompassing knowledge and mind adventure while the body remains under a comfortable, predator-free structure, this installation entitled “
Home
” was constructed at the
MagnanMetz Gallery
last year. The artist imagined a 9 foot igloo made of books that would rise without being forced to remain together by any kind of glue, but naturally relying on each other to shape the desired structure. Pages face outwards to shape a color-white-color dynamic, while the spines showing titles of the salvaged books face inward. Missing almost half of the structure, the dome-like book stack substitutes bricks for books, showing a work in progress captured in a moment of time. This compact display found on
This is Colossal
inspires the thirst for knowledge and the self-made chance to apply that found knowledge.

Unusual-Looking Tea Bag Holder Paying Tribute to the Titanic Drama
There are designs that make you smile and designs that …don’t. We found this unusual tea bag holder designed by
Gordon Adler
and paying tribute to the Titanic and to all the people who embarked on the iconic ship. Made of stainless steel, this small gizmo was especially created to fit every coffee and tea mug. Its mechanism is simple: just press the margins and this will instantly make your tea more colorful and tasty, by simultaneously squishing the tea bag inside. You have to admit this design is original and interesting looking. But the question which inevitably pops up is -would you like to wake up every morning to a cup of tea reminding you of a past tragedy? Now wouldn’t a nice, neutral-shaped boat or vessel be a better solution for a tea-bag holder?
