Sculptural Bronze Furniture by Nick Davis

After they ransacked the Museum cabinet Sculptural Bronze Furniture by Nick Davis

Producing bronze furniture and sculpture in his studio-foundry based in the UK is what international artist and designer
Nick Davis
does best. His unusual pieces range from tables, chairs and cabinets through to lamps and coat hooks all made from the ancient material. His furniture designs explore collage and constructivism, honouring the sculptural techniques of past and present artists. His work is a reaction to contemporary themes relating to the collapse of structures of the physical, the economic and the imagined.

Chair 3 4 Practical Way to Take a Rest During Studying: Bravo Chair by Matte Nyberg

College life can provide plenty of inspiration in the field of design and architecture. In this post we would like to present the

Bravo Chair

, a project that was especially developed to “
allow for that much needed mid study session nap
“. According to
Design Milk
, the creator,

Matte Nyberg

, is currently studying to receive a Masters of Industrial Design at Pratt Institute. With an appearance that is both aesthetic and functional, the chair allows one the possibility to take a break while reading or doing office work. Simply lean your head on the soft red pillow and let your mind relax. We appreciate the design and originality of this project and believe it would be a great addition in a bookstore or public library. The only thing missing is a place to rest your feet. How do you find it?

Steps Bench Connects Parent And Child At Early Ages

Steps Bench by Kohdai Iwamoto3 Steps Bench Connects Parent And Child At Early Ages

Connecting parent and child in a new and interesting way, the
Steps Bench
was created to display a simple design with a versatile use. Providing a long-term bond between the two users, the bench transforms from one age to another to accommodate the needs of the child: “
Placing the stool under the hole of seat, it is a table for the child. When the child grows a little older, they can sit next to each other at the same level by fitting the stool back into the hole.
” Designed by Kohdai Iwamoto and part of the

Design Soil

project, this beech wood bench rests its curved top on four legs. Urethane foam covered in colorful fabric was used to create the comfy stool and the hole on one side holds this muffin-resembling element when your kid is old enough to comfortably sit next to you. Its name offers a perspective on the steps each child has to take in order to grow up happy alongside family. Do you think this bench would increase the amount and quality of time you spend with your child?

Maximo Riera’s Elephant Chair Impresses With Detail Accuracy

Elephant Chair by Maximo Riera 2 Maximo Rieras Elephant Chair Impresses With Detail Accuracy

Looking at

Maximo Riera

‘s latest work – the
Elephant Chair
– we can’t help but wonder how a sculptural piece like this one can ever be ignored. It’s massive elephant head and body shares the feeling of surrendering to higher powers while drawing inspiration from one of the oldest living civilization of Earth. Adding to his existing three animal pieces – the
Walrus Chair
, the
Rhino Chair
and the
Octopus Chair
- this fourth piece is an ode to the world’s largest animal. Surprising exceptional details in yet another fabulous piece of furniture part of his now famous Animal Collection, the Spanish designer insisted that each project be biologically accurate to create a stunning first impression that lasts. Besides being inspired by the widely worshiped Indian deity Ganesha in all it’s shape, this imposing chair also features Indian patterns carved into the front legs – these were designed after original hand-made pieces of furniture found in India. Would you make room for a fabulous piece like this one in your home?

Pet and Person, Rocking-2-Gether In Patent-Pending Chair

Rocking 2 Gether Chair by Paul Kweton 1 Pet and Person, Rocking 2 Gether In Patent Pending Chair

Sharing moments together with your trusty pet companion can create a strong bond, but relaxing together can also improve the way you understand a stress-free moment. Cats are perfect teachers of relaxation – they swiftly react to threats, but when it comes to down time, you can clearly see there is nothing in the world that can bother a cat. Dogs, on the other hand, thrive when close to their masters and mirror their behavior and every moment with them is a bliss. The patent-pending
Rocking-2-Gether Chair
designed by Houston architect

Paul Kweton

creates this shared moment routine while displaying a carefully mastered design. Made out of CNC milled birch plywood, the modern rocking chair can be customized to display different density and sizes for the wooden spacers, so you can control the visual connection between you and your pet. If you love this design found on
LaughingSquid
as much as we do, spread the word that Paul Kweton is currently looking for manufacturers and distributors. We might see this beautiful rocking chair/dog house hybrid on the market in no time!

Elegant Chair Especially Designed for Museum Brandhorst in Munich

Munich chair 1 Elegant Chair Especially Designed for Museum Brandhorst in Munich

With an appearance that is elegant and sober, the
Munich Chair
is perfectly suited for a business office, or a sophisticated indoor study room. Designed by
Matthias Sauerbruch
and
Louisa Hutton
for
Classicon
, the chair is a result of a commission for the Museum Brandhorst in Munich. Asked to develop a piece that would be integrated in such a prestigious institution, the designers created three different seating units. In time, these designs were used for the cafeteria, the lounge, the conference and lecture rooms, as free-standing, comfortable furniture pieces. Employing a steel frame and solid wood, the designers envisioned a long-lasting chair concept. The Munich Chair is also available in a lime green color (last photo of the post, as seen on
Chair Blog
), by Berlin Architects
Sauerbruch Hutton
. Have a look below; we would be interested in knowing which design you prefer and why.

Unique Cabinet Blurring The Lines Between Real And Imaginary

Perceptor Cabinet by Tieme Rietveld and Codex Inferno 1 Unique Cabinet Blurring The Lines Between Real And Imaginary

From the time you first lay your eyes on this exquisite piece of furniture, you know that it will definitely remain in your memory as a unique storage device. The
Perceptor Cabinet
was born out of the designer’s desire to build something magnificent that combines graphic and illusory details into a creative piece of furniture. The collaboration between Dutch interior designer

Tieme Rietveld

and image makers

Codex Inferno

gave birth to the stunning cabinet – an artistic interpretation of modern furniture, designed to blur the lines between the real shape of the cabinet and the painted details. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it is handmade and hand-sprayed, evoking a world at the boundary between real and imaginary. Playfully displaying its artistic side, the Perceptor Cabinet  is priced at € 7,999 and is available in a “first come, first served” scenario.
